Colm Quinn BMW – Galway International Rally 2015
Quite simply the Colm Quinn BMW Galway International Rally 2015 was a very special day for all associated with Irish Rallying. Undoubtedly this was the biggest spectacle that Irish Motorsport has witnessed in some time and Eugene, Paul and the Donnelly Motorsport Team were delighted to be part of it. Both Eugene and Paul thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were obviously delighted with the result that saw their Colm Quinn supported MINI WRC car cross the finish line in second place.
“The rally itself was very fast and demanding. The MINI performed flawlessly over the two days and with the support of Mc Geehan Motorsport, we achieved a great second place finish after a huge battle with Sam Moffett in his Ford Fiesta WRC who was just 0.7 of a second behind in third. Going into the last stage it was all to play for as Sam was 4.3 seconds ahead. I knew the last stage would suit us and the car and it did we took 5 out of Sam to secure 2nd I am delighted”.
Both Eugene and Paul were amazed at the huge support on the Stages as well as at the service areas. “The crowds that turned out were nothing short of amazing. “It is fantastic to see such an interest in the event and we would like to thank everyone for their support”. “We would also like to say a huge thanks to Colm Quinn MINI for their tireless work in making this Rally a reality. None of this would have been possible without them”. “Colm Quinn (Managing Director), Tina McNabola (Marketing Manager) and the rest of the team at Colm Quinn MINI have been a joy to work with over the last few months. The professionalism and image they have brought to the Rally has been nothing short of amazing.”
Huge congratulations must go to Donagh Kelly on his 1st place finish and indeed his first outright Tarmac Championship win. Eugene went on to say “Donagh drove a very controlled rally and I am delighted to congratulate him on a fantastic result. We must also express our delight and congratulate our team mate Dean Rafferty finishing 6th O/A driving a similar Colm Quinn backed MINI WRC. Dean only 24 on his first outing in a WRC car set some amazing times and I reckon he is going to be one of the top drivers.
Eugene, Paul and the team hope that everyone really enjoyed the weekend and would like to say a very special word of thanks to all their sponsors, support team and everyone associated in making it such a success.
“Special thanks to our sponsors, Colm Quinn MINI (Galway and Athlone), Lakeland Tyres, Mc Geehan Motorsport,Pro-Tune, McPartland Fuels and the PPP Group. We would also like to thank Galway Shopping Centre, Hylands In-Car Camera, Lowry Marketing (PR and Media), local photographers and the press for all their ongoing help. Finally, to Galway Motor Club, fellow competitors, marshals, time-keepers, officials and you the supporters, a huge thanks. We hope to see you on the stages again soon”.
